Jelena Clay

 

The islands and culture hold endless inspiration for me.  

 

I hope to convey my love for the islands in my work and to inspire visitors to want to learn more about the culture, land, myths and legends.

 

My work is all free hand drawing from my minds eye.  I do not use any craft stenciling.  Most often I read a legend or see a hula and capture the defining image in my head and free hand draw it on my gourds and paintings.   I refer to books for acuracy.
