Gourds, Unique Gifts and Local Art
My work reflects the Hawaiian environment that surrounds me.

I use pyrography, stains, dyes, acrylics, clay, epoxy and basically anything that works on wood or leather, works on gourds.

Each gourd is unique and has its own personality. I can usually see exactly what I want to make as soon as I hold the gourd.

The color and shape speaks to the image I create.
'Koi ' - Pyrography of a Koi pond scene inside an albezia wood bowl approx. 4' high and 3' wide. The bowl was made by Stan Kerr and took months of turning and hand carving. Won 'best of show' at the Big Island Woodworkers Invitational show in Hilo 2012.
above is a close up detail of the koi.
